Call for Papers
The Committee for Promotion of Ming-Qing Studies, Academia Sinica is pleased to announce a call for papers for the International Conference on Ming-Qing Studies, to be held at Academia Sinica on December 18-20, 2017. The Conference seeks significant contributions in all major fields of Ming-Qing Studies, so as to provide a forum for sharing cutting-edge developments in the field. All participants will be expected to cover their own travel costs (including airfare), but free accommodation and breakfast at the conference hotel will be provided for four nights, with the exception of participants from northern Taiwan. In addition, lunch will be provided during the conference, as well as a welcome banquet on December 18, 2017.
Panel Submissions
Authors are invited to submit panel proposals or individual paper proposal to the Conference Submission System by May 10, 2017. However, inasmuch as the acceptance rate for individual papers was only 19% for the last conference, we encourage the submission of panel proposals. All submissions should be original works of scholarship that not have been published previously. Panel conveners should submit a panel description of up to 500 words defining the panel topic and connections among the papers, along with abstracts of individual papers not exceeding 250 words each. Panels should include a maximum of five participants (including the chair, paper presenters and discussants) with a maximum of four papers presented. Individual paper proposals should include author information and an abstract of paper not exceeding 250 words. Papers in English, Japanese or Korean are acceptable, but please also submit a Chinese abstract and present the paper in Chinese or English during the conference. The Conference will review all panel and individual paper proposals, with notifications to be sent out by June 16, 2017. Accepted papers must be submitted by November 17, and will be posted on a password-protected website for the access of Conference participants only.
